On December 28, 2020, the New York State Legislature passed, and the Governor signed into law, new legislation known as the “Covid-19 Emergency Eviction and Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2020,” imposing, among other things, additional restrictions on a landlord’s ability to commence and prosecute eviction proceedings against residential tenants.
